Restitution Coordinator
Collections & Support Section - Full-Time; Anchorage Office
The Department of Law, Civil Division, Anchorage, is recruiting for the position of Restitution Coordinator (Associate Attorney II) in the Collections & Support Section.
The Collections Unit collects restitution in criminal cases and juvenile delinquency matters and disburses the funds to the restitution recipient. The Restitution Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of restitution collections.
Position Description
The Restitution Coordinator has a wide range of duties. Management duties will include the development and update of restitution procedures and policies, recommending enhancements to the database, establishing goals and work priorities, and managing the daily work flow. The position will also have the following duties relating to restitution: respond to inquiries from and act as a liaison with the court system, case parties, and other state agencies; prepare quarterly and annual reports; work with fiscal office on restitution issues, and provide input on proposed legislative and regulatory changes affecting restitution. The position will supervise two litigation assistants, a paralegal, and two office assistants in addition to three temporary positions. The position will also have primary responsibility for a partial caseload of active restitution cases.
The person hired for this position should possess excellent management skills, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team environment. Previous supervisory experience and work experience with collection matters is preferred. Experience working with large databases, spreadsheets, and computer programs is required. Experience with court procedures in criminal or civil cases would be beneficial. Prior accounting or bookkeeping experience would also be beneficial.
This position is a non-attorney position assigned to the partially exempt service. Beginning salary is $5,032.00/month DOE and includes a full-time benefit package.
