Bethel Man Charged With Sexual Assault Involving Six Victims

(Anchorage) - On June 15, 2005, Frank Christopher Baker** was arraigned in Bethel Superior Court on multiple counts of sexual assault involving six victims, in incidents alleged to have occurred between 2002 through 2005.
The 17 count indictment includes the following charges: one count kidnapping, four counts of sexual assault in the first degree, one count attempted sexual assault in the second degree, two counts of attempted sexual assault in the first degree, one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree, four counts of sexual assault in the second degree, one count of sexual abuse of a minor in the third degree, two counts of sexual assault in the third degree and one count of assault in the third degree.
The victims in this case range in age from 14 to 34. All of the victims are Alaska Native females.
In an information adding misdemeanor counts to the indictment, Baker was charged with three counts of assault in the fourth degree, two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and four counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
In a 1996 Bethel case, Baker, 52, was convicted on the charge of assault in the fourth degree but he was acquitted of a charge of attempted sexual assault in the first degree.
Baker is currently a lifetime registered sex offender due to two out-of-state convictions. In 1973 he was convicted of assault with intent to commit rape in California. In 1978 he was convicted of rape in the second degree in Washington state. He is currently listed on the Alaska sex offender registry.
