Anchorage Man Indicted for East Side Murder

March 19, 2013

On March 18, 2013, 49-year-old Anchorage resident Donald Williams was indicted for the March 7 murder of Henry Ningeok. On March 8, Anchorage Police arrested Williams for Ningeok’s murder. Ningeok is believed to have been killed as the result of a single stab wound to the chest in a residence in East Anchorage.

The indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

If convicted, Williams faces a sentence of up to 99 years in prison and a fine of $500,000. Sentencing is based on the judge’s view of the seriousness of the crime and the offender’s criminal history, if any.

Williams is expected to be arraigned in Anchorage Superior Court on March 20, 2013.
