Mother Indicted for Trying to Kill Her Son

April 17, 2014

40 year old Tracia Hetty Jordan-Sainte was indicted yesterday for attempting to kill her three year old son. On April 8, 2014, Anchorage Police responded to the Safe Harbor Inn on Muldoon Road and found Jordan-Sainte’s three year old son covered in blood. The child reported that his mother stabbed him in the neck with a pair of scissors. The child underwent surgery and is recovering. He is in the custody of the Office of Children’s Services.

Jordan-Sainte was indicted for one count of attempted murder in the first degree and one count of assault in the first degree. She faces a sentence of up to 99 years in prison if convicted. Sentencing is based on the judge’s view of the seriousness of the crime and the offender’s criminal history, if any.

The indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
