Press Release

Indictments Returned on 2013 Anchorage Crime Spree

April 25, 2014

Three Anchorage men were indicted on Friday for a six–week crime spree in October and November 2013. The grand jury returned a forty count indictment against the three defendants. The indictment was returned following an investigation by the Anchorage Police robbery assault unit of alleged robberies at several Anchorage businesses and homes.

24 year old Miracle Tulimasealii was indicted on a total of 30 counts including: six counts of robbery in the first degree, one counts of robbery in the second degree, two counts of burglary in the first degree, one count of arson, and several felony charges for assault, theft, and tampering with evidence.

23 year old Lonnie Reed was indicted on a total of 29 counts including: five counts of robbery in the first degree, one count of robbery in the second degree, two counts of burglary in the first degree, one count of tampering with physical evidence, and several felony charges for assault, theft and fraudulent use of an access device.

21 year old Siaosi Sila was indicted on a total of 29 counts including: five counts of robbery in the first degree, one count of robbery in the second degree, two counts of burglary in the first degree, one count of arson, four counts of weapon misconduct, one count of tampering with evidence, and several felony charges for assault and theft.

The indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

If convicted, the defendants face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for each count of robbery in the first degree, which is the most serious charge. Sentencing is based on the judge’s view of the seriousness of the crime and the offender’s criminal history, if any.
