Anchorage Personal Trainer Indicted for Sexually Abusing Juvenile Client
September 12, 2014
36 year old Marvin Colbert was indicted today for allegedly sexually abusing a teenager in July 2014. Colbert provided in-home personal training services to the teenager and her mother. Following the personal training session, the teenager's mother left her alone with Colbert. Colbert is alleged to have sexually abused the teenager at that time.
Colbert was arrested on July 26, 2014 and has been on bail release since August 13, 2014. Colbert was indicted for sexual abuse in the second degree. He faces a sentence of five to 15 years under Alaska’s sentencing laws if convicted. Colbert will be arraigned on the indictment on September 16, 2014 in Anchorage Superior Court.
The indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the government must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
