April 30, 2015

(Anchorage, AK) – 20 year old Dustin Arthur Badillo was indicted in Anchorage yesterday for kidnapping, sexual assault, robbery, and burglary among other offenses alleged to have occurred on April 22, 2015 in Anchorage.

Badillo is expected to be arraigned in Superior Court on Friday, May 1, 2015. The grand jury indicted Badillo on a total of 18 charges, including three counts of kidnapping, two counts of sexual assault in the first degree, nine counts of robbery in the first degree, two counts of burglary in the first degree, one count of vehicle theft in the first degree, and one count of misconduct involving a weapon in the third degree.

According to charging documents, Badillo kidnapped a woman and her two children on April 22, 2015 while she was putting her children in her car. At gunpoint, Badillo allegedly forced the woman back into her home where he sexually assaulted her and stole several items from the residence. He then allegedly made her go to several locations and forced her to withdraw money from an ATM. After Badillo left, she called 911 to report.

If convicted, Badillo faces a maximum sentence of up to 99 years in prison for kidnapping and sexual assault in the first degree. Sentencing is based on the judge’s view of the seriousness of the crime and the offender’s criminal history, if any.

The indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent.  The State must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
