Press Release

Indictment Returned for 2008 Fatal Mountain View Shooting

July 24, 2015

On July 23, 2015, 29 year old Kevin Tuckfield was indicted for a fatal shooting in September 2008 in Mountain View. Tuckfield was indicted on one count of murder in the first degree and one count of murder in the second degree regarding the shooting death of Travis Villa. Tuckfield was also indicted on one count of attempted murder in the first degree for the alleged shooting of Morgan Meadows. Tuckfield’s indictment represents the only charges filed in connection with the shooting.

If convicted, Tuckfield faces a sentence of up to 99 years in prison for each of the three counts. Sentencing is based on the judge’s view of the seriousness of the crime and the offender’s criminal history, if any.

The indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent. The State must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
