Anchorage Man Indicted for January 2015 Double Homicide
September 11, 2015
On September 10, 2015, 22 year old Anchorage resident Michael Reynold was indicted for his alleged role in the January 27, 2015 double homicide of Christian Haynes and Krystal Hawk. The homicide investigation determined that Mr. Haynes was shot and killed in an East Anchorage residence. Ms. Hawk was shot in the same residence but died at the Alaska Native Medical Center.
Reynold was indicted on two counts of murder in the first degree, one count of misconduct involving weapons in the second degree, and one count of tampering with physical evidence. If convicted, Reynold faces a sentence of 20 to 99 years in prison for each murder count. He also faces a sentence of up to 10 years for misconduct involving weapons in the second degree and a sentence of up to five years for tampering with physical evidence. Sentencing is based on the judge’s view of the seriousness of the crime and the offender’s criminal history, if any.
The indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent. The State must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
