Indictment Returned for Assisted Living Home Murder

November 17, 2015

(Anchorage, AK) – 25 year old Gilbert Nashookpuk was indicted on November 17, 2015 for murder in the first and second degree. The indictment stems from the November 7, 2015 death of Glenna Wyllie at an Anchorage assisted living home.

The indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent. The State must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Nashookpuk is expected to be arraigned in Superior Court on Thursday, November 19, 2015. Nashookpuk’s bail is set at $500,000 cash appearance and $25,000 cash performance and a court approved third party custodian.

According to charging documents, Anchorage Police received a 911 call from Nashookpuk reporting that he had killed someone at an assisted living home. Anchorage Police Officers were able to determine the location of the assisted living home and discovered a deceased female later identified as Glenna Wyllie.

If convicted, Nashookpuk faces a sentence of 20 to 99 years in prison for murder in the first degree and 10 to 99 years for murder in the second degree. Sentencing would be based on the judge’s view of the seriousness of the crime and the offender’s criminal history, if any.
