Anchorage Woman Indicted for Manslaughter for Death of Child

January 28, 2016

(Anchorage, AK) - 22 year Elizabeth Morin was indicted today on charges relating to the death of her three year old son on August 5, 2015. Morin is expected to be arraigned on January 29, 2016 in Anchorage Superior Court.

The grand jury returned and indictment for manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide. The indictment contains only charges and is not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent. The State must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

If convicted, Morin could face a sentence of up to 20 years in prison for manslaughter. Sentencing would be based on the judge's view of the circumstances and seriousness of the crime and the offender's criminal history, if any.
