Dillingham Man Charged In Connection With 2015 Murder

September 22, 2016

On September 20, 2016, 36 year old Dillingham resident Brian V. Clark was indicted for the 2015 murder and robbery of 55 year old Dillingham resident Ella Olsen.

On February 7, 2015, at approximately 5:05 p.m., the Dillingham Police Department received a call that a local resident discovered the body of 55 year old Ella Olsen. Police officers responded to Olsen’s residence and it appeared Olsen was beaten to death. Alaska State Troopers assisted Dillingham Police with the crime scene investigation. The
State Medical Examiner’s Office determined Olsen’s cause of death was blunt force trauma to her head, trunk and extremities.

The Dillingham Police Department diligently continued its investigation over the past 18 months. The investigation was aided by the cooperation of numerous Dillingham citizens and local businesses.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. Defendants are presumed innocent. The State must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. If convicted, Clark faces a sentence of up to 99 years in prison. Sentencing is determined by the court’s evaluation of the circumstances of the offense and the defendant.

Clark was brought into custody in Anchorage on September 20, 2016 as a result of efforts by the Dillingham Police Department, the Alaska State Troopers and the United States Marshals Service, District of Alaska. Clark is scheduled to be arraigned in Dillingham Superior Court on Wednesday, September 28, 2016. Bail has been set for Clark at $250,000 cash performance, $250,000 cash appearance, and a court approved third party custodian.
