Fourth Defendant Indicted in Connection with Christmas Eve Double Murder

(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) On April 2, 2017, 22 year old Savon Wiley was arrested by the Anchorage Police Department for his alleged role December 24, 2016 deaths of Cristopher and Danielle Brooks. On March 30, 2017, Wiley was indicted by the Anchorage grand jury on two counts of murder in the second degree and two counts of robbery.

On December 24, 2016, at approximately 3:54 p.m., the Anchorage Police Department’s Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call from a passerby reporting a person on the ground who appeared to have been shot. Anchorage Police patrol officers responded and found Christopher and Danielle Brooks who had been shot and killed in their residence on Peterkin Avenue. 22 year old Lamarkus Mann, 20 year old Jaylyn Franklin, and now 20 year old DeAnthony Harris were indicted in early January 2017 for their alleged roles in the robbery homicides. The Anchorage Police Department Homicide Unit developed Wiley as a suspect in the alleged robbery which led to the homicides.

If convicted at trial, Wiley faces a sentence of 15 to 99 years in prison for the murder in the second degree charges. A defendant’s sentence is determined by the judge who must consider the circumstances of the offense, the impact on the victim and the community, and the potential for rehabilitation of the defendant. The charges in the indictment are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. The defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Wiley is expected to be arraigned in Anchorage Superior Court this afternoon. Wiley is currently in the custody of the Department of Corrections and being held on bail requiring $250,000 cash or corporate appearance bond, a $250,000 cash performance bond and a court-approved third party custodian.
