Press Release

Randall Igou Indicted for Paint Store Robbery Homicide

October 2, 2017

(Anchorage, AK) On September 27, 2017, 27 year old Randall Igou of Anchorage was indicted for the robbery homicide that led to the death of Gregory Gill on September 10, 2017. The grand jury indicted Igou on a total of eight charges, including murder in the first degree, an unclassified felony, and robbery in the first degree, a class A felony.

On September 11, 2017, at approximately 8:50 a.m., the Anchorage Police Department responded to a 911 call from the Aurora Paint Company on Arctic Boulevard in Anchorage. The 911 caller reported that he came into his business and found his uncle, Gregory Gill, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The 911 caller reported that his uncle’s vehicle was missing from the premises. Within three hours, following an alert broadcast by the Anchorage Police, an Anchorage resident reported seeing Gill’s vehicle in the East Anchorage. Officers were ultimately able to apprehend the driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Igou.

Igou faces a potential sentence of up to 99 years in prison for murder in the first degree and up to 20 years for robbery in the first degree. A defendant’s sentence is determined by the judge who must consider the circumstances of the offense, the impact on the victim and the community, and the potential for rehabilitation of the defendant. The charges in the indictment are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Igou is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Igou has been in the custody of the Department of Corrections since his arrest on September 11, 2017. His bail was previously set by District Court Judge Leslie Dickson at $500,000 cash appearance, $500,000 case performance and a court approved third party custody.
